10 Simple Fall Crafts For Toddlers

Are you looking for easy crafts to do with your toddler or young child this fall? Then you have come to the right place. In my house we LOVE doing all kinds of seasonal crafts. Not only do crafts boost my daughters creativity, it also makes her insanely proud, when she sees her craft projects hung up all over the house. Besides that, crafting gives me a chance to spend some quality one-on-one time with her. So when the leaves start to change color we get excited to decorate our house with our fall crafts.

Below, I have put together 10 simple crafts suitable for children around 18 months to 5 years old.

1. Leaf Suncatcher Craft

What better way to brighten up those grey, rainy days than with some fall colored leaf suncatchers. These suncatchers do not require many materials and are fairly mess free. All you need is tissue paper, clear contact paper, scissors, glue stick and construction paper. With some help from adults they are also perfectly suitable for younger toddlers.

2. Paper Plate Apple Craft

These paper plate apples are mess free, simple and only require materials you will most likely have on hand already. This craft will be enjoyed by younger and older toddlers and also provides the perfect opportunity to for your child to learn more about the parts of an apple.

3. Handprint Leaves

If you’re not afraid of using paint with your little one, this handprint leaf craft is for you. All you need is fall colored finger paints and some paper. Not only will these handprint leaves look great on your windows, these little hands will also be a great keepsake to look back to in a few years, when your kids have grown.

4. Fingerprint Fall Tree

Another great finger paint craft I love, that does not require much preparation. You can either cut out tree branches from card stock and glue it on a piece of paper or simply draw a trunk on paper. Your child will then enjoy using fall colors to make leaves with their finger tips.

5. Fall Leaf Wreath

These leaf wreaths only require a handful of materials and also offer a great opportunity for a nature hunt. If your child loves to be outside and play in parks and woods, this craft is perfect for you. Find some colorful leaves, let them dry and glue them on a cut out circle or paper plate. Alternatively, you can also cut out leave shapes from card stock and glue them on the circle.

6. Handprint Acorns

How about some cute acorn handprints? All you need are finger paints and paper. You can also make these handprints extra fun by adding some googly eyes and turning them into silly acorns. From my experience googly eyes make every craft extra fun for children.

7. Tissue Paper Pumpkins

We surely can’t talk about fall crafts without including a pumpkin craft. All you need is tissue paper, glue and some regular paper and you’re ready to go. Rolling the tissue paper into little balls is not only fun for toddlers but also great for practicing those fine motor skills.

8. Apple Stamping Pumpkin Craft

These adorable little guys are the ideal fall craft, combining two things everyone instantly thinks of when talking about fall: pumpkins and apples. Add some pipe cleaners and googly eyes and you have the perfect silly pumpkin.

9. Fall Leaf Hedgehog

Older and younger toddlers will have fun creating their own leaf hedgehog. This craft also provides the perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy some fall sunshine. If you prefer you can also use cut out paper leaves instead of real leaves.

10. Fall Toilet Paper Roll Windsock

These Toilet Paper Roll Windsocks are the perfect craft for the windy fall weather. They also do not require any paint and are therefore completely mess free. This craft is suitable for older toddlers, my 4 year old loved making those. However, younger toddlers can surely enjoy this activity too with some help from a parent.
